Headgears and Tales of Women Apr.21 - Jun.3 In northern districts of Niigata prefecture, headgears are commonly weared by women. The tradition also extends to the northeastern Japan, and a lot of variations are observed as to the forms and wearing methods. Headgears have close relationships with the life cycle of women as well. This is an exhibition of ethnological research on the headgears and trys to seek why women cover their faces. Visitors can also enjoy trying the headgears and visitors with hats or any other headgears can have ticket discounts.
